I7-6700k "official" recommended temps

Hello,

I tried to find an official recommendation chart from Intel about the processor i7-6700K temperature range, but I could not manage to find one. I found a lot of informations on the Internet (60°C under heavy load is good, 70°C is warm but still ok and one shall never go beyond 90 °C) but nothing official.

Does someone have a link to this? Or can an Intel employee back this up?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Hello Vincent.Brutel,

Sure, I can help you with that information.

The TCASE for this model is 64°C, and this information can be corroborated here; http://ark.intel.com/products/88195/Intel-Core-i7-6700K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_20-GHz?q=Intel%C2%AE%20Core%E2%84%A2%20i7-6700K%20Processor%20(8M%20Cache,%20up%20to%204.20%20GHz) Intel® Core™ i7-6700K Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.20 GHz) Product Specifications. You can also get more detailed information in regard to temperatures in the datasheets which you can find here; http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/core/desktop-6th-gen-core-family-datasheet-vol-1.html 6th Generation Intel® Core™ Processor Family Datasheet, Vol. 1 and http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/core/desktop-6th-gen-core-family-datasheet-vol-2.html 6th Generation Intel® Core™ Processor Family Datasheet, Vol. 2.

If you have more questions, please let me know.

Hello Amy,

thank you for your answer & sorry for replying so late. I took the time to read a bunch of the documentation you sent me, but I still have one question :

- Is the TCASE the same thing as the core temperatures we can read using some monitoring softwares such as Aida64 or HWMonitoring? (My I7-6700k core temp has an average of 71°C under heavy load, so I start being worried about it...)

Thank you for your time.

Regards,

Vincent.

Hi Vincent,

Well no, these are different temperatures. Normally, Aida64 or HWMonitoring will indicate the max and min that each core can reach and you can corroborate that information in the datasheet.

One more thing, bear in mind that under heavy load it is expected for the temperature to go up.

If you have more questions, please let me know.

Regards,

Amy.
