I have an I7 920 running a very light load. Most of the time, in Task Manager, I see one core being maxed out but nothing I can find is causing it to do this. First time this happened I openned the case and cleaned all of the dust out. This solved the problem for a while. It has started doing this again with the added feature of showing different cores running high instead of just a single one. I cleaned the system again. Rebooting the system seems to result in a different core being affected. I even had a "no problem" reboot with 0 cores being affected. Additional symptoms include a "jumpy" or "stuttering" disply/audio problem.
Any ideas out there?
Clay

Install latest BIOS version for your motherboard and test the processor on a 2nd fully compatible motherboard to see if it has the same behavior.

I looked in Task Manager, Process tab, and found an entry for pppeuser (A Steam program?). I stopped this process and the problem went away...Thanks for the help.
