Turn the performance ratio from X59 to X55 works for me,
Using Intel Extreme Tuning Utility.
Using the Asus Z790 dark hero, BIOS version 1402.
I changed the setting in BIOS profile to Intel default profile.
Seems like the chip is facing some issue when using turbo mode.
-Note
20240816
Update BIOS to version 1503 seems like it's more stable when performance setting is X59.
I hope this thread can help others having the same problem as I do.

The KS should be able to run all core at X59 and turbo at x62. If you were running an AVX2 stress test in XTU, then it will fail until you reduce the AVX offset to -3 or -4. In my 13900K, the test fails at the default speeds but runs fine with a -4 AVX offset.

Yes, they should and mine did, in the fact mine 14900ks run as x59 usually lasts for 3~5 mins and game crashed/bluescreen, using windows11.
There are something wrong.
turning the ratio to x55 works for me.

Hi CamRoy,
Apologies for the delay in my response.
Just to add, as a general best practice Intel recommends users adhere to Intel Default Settings on their desktop processors. Intel is not changing the tuning capabilities of existing K sku processors. Users who desire to overclock or utilize higher power delivery settings than recommended can still do so at their own risk as overclocking may void warranty or affect system health (learn more at Overclock Your CPU with Unlocked Intel® Processors - Intel).

Hi CamRoy,
The increase in required operating voltage can lead to issues such as repeated crashes and/or freezes in applications. Based on extensive analysis of Intel Core 13th and 14th Gen desktop processors returned to Intel due to Vmin Shift Instability issues, Intel has determined that elevated operating voltage is a contributor to Vmin Shift Instability issues in some 13th and 14th Gen desktop processors. Analysis of returned processors confirms that the elevated operating voltage is stemming from a microcode algorithm resulting in incorrect voltage requests to the processor. Intel has delivered a microcode patch (0x129) as a partial mitigation addressing exposure to elevated voltages.
We recommend updating BIOS with Microcode 0x129 for systems configured with 13th and 14th Generation Processors with CPUID 0xB0671. Intel Core 13th and 14th generation desktop processors affected by the Via Oxidation issue display similar symptoms to processors affected by the elevated voltage related Vmin Shift Instability issue, including OS and application hangs and errors.
The microcode update (0x129) will limit voltage requests above 1.55V as a preventative mitigation for processors not experiencing instability symptoms. This microcode update will primarily improve operating conditions for K/KF/KS processors, with less impact on non-K Series processors. Analysis is ongoing to address other scenarios that can result in this Vmin shift on Intel Core 13th and 14th Gen desktop processors (list of vulnerable processors is here Additional Warranty Updates on Intel Core 13th/14th Gen Desktop Processors - Intel Community).
It seems that the processor is faulty and if you really wish to claim warranty, please contact your local warranty support team for them to gather the needed details and validate your processor. Kindly open the link below and choose your country to contact your local Warranty Team.

Yes, thank you for the info.
I've update my BIOS which delivering the microcode patch (0x129)
After this update install, I still have application randomly crash/ suspend/fail to load windows when I'm on default setting x59 ratio.
Everything is default including BIOS profile set to " intel default setting".
Somehow turning down the core ratio to 55 fix the crash.
Does this chip is already damaged?
3 months ago I bought this brandnew computer.
I've update BIOS since the ROG MAXIMUS Z790 DARK HERO BIOS 1202 is out.
"The update introduces the Intel Baseline Profile option, allowing users to revert to Intel factory default settings for basic functionality, lower power limits, and improving stability in certain games.
Updating this BIOS will simultaneously update the corresponding intel ME to version 16.1.30.2307. Please note after you update this BIOS, the ME version remains the updated one even if you roll back to an older BIOS later.
Before running the USB BIOS Flashback tool, please rename the BIOS file (A5469.CAP) using BIOSRenamer.""
After that patch my BIOS is always default.
2 Points for summary:
1. X59 core ratio = Randomly crash application and unstable system.
2. X55 core ratio= No more randomly crash and works fine for daily uses.
What's the suggestion from you? Thanks.
