Intel Hyperthreading technology is shown as unavailable by Intel Processor Identification Utility

Hi,

application name : Intel Processor Identification Utility

version : 6.8.2.6.0630 (latest)

CPU : Core i7-12700K

OS : windows 11 21H20

Intel Hyperthreading technology is shown as unavailable('x' is shown) with above CPU.

I confirmed hyperthreading is enabled on UEFI(BIOS) settings and task manager reports 20 logical processor number.

So I guess perhaps hyperthreading is enabled with the CPU but not sure because Intel Processor Identification Utility reports hyperthreading feature is not available.

Is the result of Intel Processor Identification Utility correct?

Hello misaka10777,

I do appreciate the feedback. Based on our website (ark.intel.com) your Intel® Core™ i7-12700K Processor supports Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology.

In order to correct this behavior, you can disable the E-Cores in BIOS and re-run ProcID to display fully P-Core-supported features. When E-Cores are disabled in BIOS, the algorithm stops at the P-Cores and captures all supported features, as mentioned before.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Because the tool has not the feature of setting display language, I uninstall the tool and re-install it as english version.

Attached is the pic of re-installed english version. I drew yellow circle for your convinience as same as the pic of Japanese version.

As you can see, 'Intel Hyperthreading technology' is shown as unavailable('x' is shown and grayed) with Intel® Core™ i7-12700K Processor as same as Japanese version.

Hello misaka10777,

Thanks for your patience. Based on the investigation performed I would like to let you know that the Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology show as disabled or grayed-out because Intel Processor Identification Utility(ProcID) tool goes through a CPUID algorithm to detect cores and it ends with the E-Cores and it’s supported features, hence Hyper-Threading disabled and possibly other features.

To fix it, you can disable the E-Cores in BIOS and re-run ProcID to display fully P-Core-supported features. When E-Cores is disabled in BIOS, the algorithm stops at the P-Cores and captures all supported features.

Thank you for the explanation.

Do you mean that "according to the way the tool detects a Core i CPU's features(CPUID algorithm) it shows the Intel® Hyper-Threading is unavailable, but the Intel® Hyper-Threading is actually working properly with 12700K Core i7"?

If so, in the search process, imho it might be more accurate to display all features that are available in any Core as "available" instead of displaying only the feature of the last found Core(E-Core) as available.
