I've had a issue for close to 6 or 7 months where Intel XTU refuses to work on my computer. I've tried what feels like everything to try and get it to work but I haven't been successful. Here's the issue I'm encountering:
"Permission Denied: XTU signature validation failed. One or more files does not have a valid signature!"
Things I have done so far:
1. Stopped the services.
2. Compeletly uninstalled XTU (using Intel intructions), deleted all files related to XTU (again using Intel intructions) and wiped the registry for XTU, then rebooted. (Multiple times...)
3. Checked previous posts with the same issue which stated to do the above ^.
4. Verified certificates are up to date.
5. Used certutil to verify the integrity of the installer.
6. Updated to the latest BIOS for my motherboard as well as the latest ME update.
Not really sure where to go from here. The program worked fine before, however, I RMA'd my 14900k awhile back and received a new one that is currently in my computer. After replacing the previous 14900k, the program no longer works. No other hardware changes were made other than the CPU. I've attached the log(s) that is generated by XTU. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Roots,
Thank you for reaching out on the Intel Community Forum. May I recommend trying the following troubleshooting steps?'
- Reboot your system and rerun the Intel® XTU installer.
- Uninstall Intel® XTU by following the How to Uninstall the Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel® XTU) article.
- Download and install the latest version of Intel® XTU.
- Make sure you have the latest BIOS version installed. You may want to contact the board manufacturer to ensure this.
- Admin permission required for this step: manually delete the c:\program files\Intel\Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility directory. Be very careful not to delete any other program folders by default.
- If issue persists, update Windows or try a fresh Windows installation.
Once you’ve completed the steps, please let us know the outcome.
If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out. Thank you.
Best regards,

I have accomplished all of these steps already and nothing has changed. I think I've narrowed it down to one driver that ships with the XTU installer: Microsoft.Win32.TaskScheduler.dll. It's the only unsigned driver in any of the XTU folders. When I delete this driver I can progress further into XTU (still doesn't work but it at least looks like it's doing something for XTU). Before XTU can run however, it redownloads this driver which ends up resulting in the same issue.

Hi Roots,
I would like to gather some additional information regarding the issue you encountered with XTU.
Upon reviewing the logs you provided, I noticed that they are XTU logs. To help us further investigate, could you please follow the steps below to capture the verbose logs?
- Open Registry Editor
- Find HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software
- Create a new Key named “Intel” under that node (if it doesn’t already exist)
- Create a new Key named “XTU” under the “Intel” node (if it doesn’t already exist)
- Create a new DWORD value under the “XTU” node called “LoggingLevel” with value 4
- Restart the XTU Service, or restart the computer.
- Start XTU and reproduce issue
- Share new XtuCore logs available in C:\ProgramDate\Intel\Intel Extreme Tuning Utility\Logs. Specifically the XtuCore file after the issue was reproduced, which will now include additional information details [ INFO ].
This will allow us to analyze the issue more thoroughly and work towards a resolution.
If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you.
Best regards,
Patrick V.

Hi Roots,
Thank you for your patience while we investigated this issue.
Our XTU engineering team has completed a thorough investigation, which included analyzing your system logs and testing various scenarios — including configurations with unsigned DLLs. Unfortunately, we were unable to reproduce the specific issue you're encountering. This suggests that the problem may be related to your unique system configuration.
Here are a few additional troubleshooting steps you might consider:
- Run XTU as Administrator – Right-click the XTU shortcut and select "Run as administrator."
- Temporarily disable any antivirus software – Some security tools may interfere with XTU.
- Close background applications – Other programs running in the background could be conflicting with XTU.
In the meantime, we’d like to suggest an alternative method for managing your overclocking needs:
Your ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PRO WIFI motherboard includes robust overclocking tools directly within the BIOS/UEFI interface. This will allow you to adjust performance settings for your Intel® Core™ i9-14900K processor without relying on XTU.
We understand this may not be the ideal solution you were hoping for, but using the BIOS interface will give you similar control while we continue to explore this issue further.
If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you.
Best regards,
Patrick V.
