Hello all !
So i have bought this config :
Intel i5 6600k
MSI Z170A Gaming M3
Corsair DDR 4 16 GB 2400 MHZ
I am experiencing random freezes. The screen locks up and the sound is stuck. So annoying. Can anyone help me with this problem ?
Most of the time happens during Youtube video playback. But it can randomly happen with listening to music with the WMP.
Im using :
Windows 10 Home - latest update 1151 Threshold 2 - with ALL DRIVERS UPDATED. Even installed the latest Beta driver of the Intel HD530 that came out Nov 21. Stock bios settings. STILL randomly freezing.
Thank you in advance,
James

Hi HeroVIII,
Windows® 7 is completely different to Windows® 10; Windows® 10 introduces Windows Display Driver Model 2.0; previously was 1.1.
It improves the graphics resolution.
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/dn932171%28v=vs.85%29.aspx What's new for Windows 10 display drivers (WDDM 2.0) (Windows Drivers)

Okay, it looks me right, you maybe this version of WDDM is to blame for the whole mess that is riding, but this is hopeless, all users are testing a thousand ways, and there is no way for our PC operating without failure freezing.
The last test Rise of Tomb Raider, I have to restart Windows 10 every 50min !.
I, like others have opted for Intel Skylake up spending a sum of money important updating it all and as I say it is very frustrating to see that because of the persistent failure can not enjoy the product, all are waiting for an update, if that with that resolved, or is need to replace them with new manufacturing building for failure in the processor hardware is trouble ?, but ask, calculate how much it will be solved the problem ?.

mikec_intel, can the culprit of all is failure WDDM 2.0 and need an update from Microsoft with Windows 10 ?, a possible version 2.1 to correct the mistake of freezing, it would be the solution ?.

Hi HeroVIII,
It is hard to answer your question; however, Windows® 10 is a new operating system with few months in the market so, it is very common to find compatibility issues with many applications. Several applications were built using older operating systems; the performance of them with newer operating systems might not be excellent.

mickec_intel, after all that has been spoken here and in other post, you, intel, what madness drawing conclusions failure as freezing and think you can solve the issue, to restore stability to the systems ?.
In other post here some users recommend me the opportunity to do RMA with the processor and receiving one more batch, maybe, just maybe, the problem is fixed. mikec_intel What is your advice?
Thanks for your answers.

Hi HeroVIII,
The Intel® Core™ i5-6600K is the newest i5 processor in the market and there is no any new batch. There is only 1 stepping number. You can verify the information at Ordering/sSpecs/Stepping tab (left side)
http://ark.intel.com/products/88191/Intel-Core-i5-6600K-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz# @ordering Intel® Core™ i5-6600K Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.90 GHz) Specifications
If your system is freezing while gaming and processor is over clocked by the motherboard; I recommend you to change the Air fan with a liquid cooling.
For example: BXTS13X
