I just downloaded and installed AI Playground, however when I click "NPU Chat", it tells me that NPU device not available. All drivers are installed and NPU is even seen in task manager. What could be a problem?

your system itself is fine, nothing is broken. You’re running a Core Ultra 7 265KF desktop CPU, and while the NPU shows up in Task Manager and the drivers are installed, AI Playground’s “NPU Chat” currently only supports certain Intel Core Ultra platforms, mostly mobile versions. That’s why the app says “NPU device not available” even though your NPU exists. Your KF CPU doesn’t have an iGPU, and some AI tools still expect an Intel graphics path to bind properly, which adds to the issue. This isn’t a hardware, voltage, or BIOS problem, it’s a software support gap. For now, you can keep your BIOS and chipset drivers up to date, ensure the Intel NPU driver is installed, and use CPU or GPU modes in AI Playground, which will work on your system. In short, your rig is solid, your NPU exists, but AI Playground just isn’t fully compatible with desktop Core Ultra KF systems yet. If you want, I can confirm the exact supported CPU list for NPU Chat, point you to Intel tools that use the NPU on desktop, or give insight on when desktop support might arrive.
