Thank you for patiently waiting. Upon coordinating with my team, an alternative way on detecting Engineering Samples is through the use of Intel® Processor Identification Utility located at this link: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005495/processors.html and not the current version of the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool.

We will also be posting the relevant information on the web as soon as possible.  Hope this clarifies your inquiry

Hello FUSSTAR,

Regarding your question about whether the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool can detect engineering samples, we have heard that some of the older versions of the IPDT could do so. To verify this information with the current version , I will be coordinating this with our team for further checking

Still, the easiest way to tell if you have an Engineering sample processor produced by Intel is to look at the processor topside markings using one of the identification methods below:

  • If the part does not have a brand string (for example: “Intel® Core™ i9-9900K”) or the base frequency markings, then it is not a production part.
  • If you don't find ink or laser markings, the processor may be an unmarked ES processor.
  • If the part has a label “Intel Confidential”, then it is an ES part.
