Hi,
We want to monitor the CPU temperature, however, the EC we plan on using does not support eSPI or PECI. Can we read the CPU temperature through SMLink1? If yes, is there a documentation listing the commands / registers we can use / access?
Thanks.

Hello f_aslantas,
Thank you for reaching out to us! I understand that you would want to monitor the CPU temperature; however you want to do it through SMLink1.
To further clarify, please answer the following questions:
- What is the make and model of the CPU that you wish to monitor?
- When you say EC, what does this specifically mean?
- May I know the main reason why you want to Monitor the CPU temperature on a different method?
I look forward to your response!
Best Regards,

We will be using the new Panther Lake SoC. By EC we mean an electronic controller, in our case a simple microcontroller. We want to measure the CPU temperature by an external microcontroller because we will be implementing a simple monitoring system.

Hello f_aslantas,
Thank you for patiently waiting. CPU temperature cannot be directly read through SMLink1. SMLink1 is a communication interface between the CPU and a Smart Matrix Light (SML) device, not for CPU temperature monitoring. CPU temperature is typically accessed through the motherboard's BIOS/UEFI, or through third-party software.
Thus, for further assistance, we recommend that you reach out to your Motherboard's Original Equipment Manufacturer.
Best Regards,
