Hello,
While playing games like Counter-Strike 2, my CPU sometimes reaches 100°C. However, as soon as I switch to a less demanding app like a web browser, the temperature quickly drops to around 60°C.
At idle, the temperatures are usually around 60°C or slightly lower, which seems normal to me.
I'm using an Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360 AIO cooler, so I was expecting better thermal performance.
How can I fix the issue of hitting 100°C during gaming?
I tried changing some settings in Intel XTU, but I'm not very experienced with it. I noticed that Intel Turbo Boost is enabled — I don't think I really need it, but I'm not sure.
I would really appreciate your help.

Hello W_kmee_1,
Thank you for posting on Intel Community Forum.
It appears that you are experiencing elevated temperatures while gaming, and I understand your concern regarding this issue.
Please note that we do not provide specific operating temperature ranges for individual processors or cores, as these values can vary depending on system design and workload.
Processors are equipped with built-in thermal protection mechanisms to safeguard against excessive temperatures. The safe operating temperature range below these protection thresholds is highly dependent on the system’s configuration and the nature of the workload. Typically, the maximum operating temperature limit for most processors ranges between 100°C and 110°C.
For reference, you can check the links below:
Information about Temperature for Intel® Processors
What Is the Maximum Operating Temperature of My Intel® Processor?
To effectively address your concern, it would be helpful if you can share the information below.
1. What games or applications are you running when the CPU gets hot? Is it isolated to Counter Strike 2?
2. Are you running any background processes
3. Do the temperatures consistently remain at 100°C?
4. Run stress test using Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and kindly share the result.
Additionally, to have a better understanding of your system configuration and components please generate System Support Utility (SSU) report. Please follow instructions here and send the report - How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows*
I look forward to your response.
Best regards

From what I’ve seen, those are just the default settings on high-end overclocking boards—Aorus, ROG, Tomahawk, etc. Go into your BIOS and disable anything labeled ‘Multi-Core Enhancement’ or ‘Performance Optimization.’ Leave only the Intel Default Settings enabled (if you don’t see that option, you’ll need to update your motherboard’s BIOS).
