I can't update my BIOS as my system won't boot with the newer Asrock BIOS, but that means I can't install the microcode update as it's now (0x12B) only offered as part of the BIOS.
Why won't Intel offer the update through Windows Update as some microcode updates were offered in the past? As it stands I'm stuck and can't get the new microcode.
Perhaps I need to join a BIOS hacker forum and see if I can get someone to help me extracting the microcode and configuring it install upon Windows boot, or perhaps adding to an older BIOS. But obviously all of that is extremely dangerous.

I've noticed that the processor is indeed faulty. Would you prefer to continue our communications via email for this?
