What is the formula for total energy based on RAPL domains

Hello,

I would like to understand what a proper formula, based on RAPL domains, would be to calculate the total amount of energy the CPU reports (including CPU, GPU, DDR, etc.).

Let's suppose that "$ powercap-info -p intel-rapl" reports the following zones:

Zone 0
-- name: package-0
-- Zone 0:0
--- name: core
-- Zone 0:1
--- name: uncore
-- Zone 0:2
--- name: dram
Zone 1
-- name: psys

For example (using a hypothetical scenario), would it be "psys" + "package-0" considering that "package-0" already includes "core", "uncore" and "dram"? Or it is only "psys" that reports the entire energy?

I kindly ask you to provide some clarifications.

Thank you

Hi,

Sure, and then the other thread should address the following two questions:

- Has the deprecated DDR RAPL on newer Intel CPUs been integrated into other domains or not?
- What is the formula for total energy based on RAPL domains?

I initially intended to keep these inquiries separate, but they are indeed related.

Thanks,
