Why don't the k-series cpu's support vt-d ?

Is there any reasonable explenation why the k series (i5-2500k and i7-2600k) don't support i/o passthrough for virtualized guest OS's, yet the non-overclockable counterparts do ?

I'd rather do without the pathetic graphics update than this. I would have gladly paid the full price of a i5-2500k, but now, since it doesn't support vt-d, I don't see the reason I should take anything more than the i5-2300.

I haven't found the one I'd like to use, but I am guessing one with z68 and sli capabilites. The main reason I want something like this is to test out XEN virtualization with GPU passthrough.
