Why is my Intel CPU showing such high usage and PL1 at 4095W in HWMonitor?

Hi everyone,

I'm facing an issue with my Intel CPU. I’ve noticed that my CPU usage is unusually high, and when I checked with HWMonitor, it shows the PL1 value at 4095W! This seems way too high and doesn’t make sense.

Lately, my PC has been extremely slow and buggy. Even simple tasks like opening a live stream make the system lag heavily. I’m worried this might be related to the high power limit and that it could be causing damage to my CPU or other components.

Does anyone know why this is happening? Is it a bug with HWMonitor or could there be something wrong with my CPU or cooling system? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

4095W is a notional maximum value for PL1 and PL2. It is set in the BIOS of your motherboard and should be under CPU configuration or a similar description. The actual values will be a lot less than this. For a 7700K Power Max (PL1) should be 91W and Short Power Max (PL2) 135W. Try setting these values and see if it makes a difference.
