Hello. How outdated is 12700k relative to 13700k? I want to upgrade my cpu and worry about whether it's worth it

You are talking about a 12th gen processor versus a 13th gen processor.   That means 1-year difference:

"Outdated" is a relative term.  One could say that anything a month old is outdated.

Anyway, if you do plan on upgrading to a 13th gen processor, make sure your motherboard bios supports the processor.
