compatibility processor with motherboard

processor: i7 7820x

motherboard: asus tuf mark 1 x299

I want to buy: i9 7980 XE

Question: do I need to buy new motherboard - more expansive or my motherboard will be enough ?

And if I need new one - can you explain why? difference between new one and old.
