currently have an xps 8930 with i3 , wanting to upgrade to and i5 or i7 cpu, does anyone know what cpu with fit this socket?

You MUST ask dell what processors are compatible with THEIR BIOS.

Then, you can select from those processors.

An upgrade processor must be socket, chipset, AND BIOS compatible.

And, this is only possible if your existing processor is not soldered to the motherboard.
