help with core i7 processer first build?

my first buildI got the corei7 920 are the three gray stripes on the bottom of the heat sink fan the thermal solution or do i have to get some ? i think so but want to be sure.directions jest pitures no words?

Its pre applied thermal compound it spreads out as the cpu heats up.
