Hello everyone,
I purchased a laptop in 2022 with the intel core i5 -1240P (4 P cores, 8 E cores) and nvidia geforce gtx 1650 with 8gb ram. i recently noticed in HW Monitor that even when my laptop is idle or i am browsing chrome, only my performance cores are functional and the usage of efficiency cores is 0.
But my P cores should only be used when a high performance task is performed and E cores should be responsible for background tasks. Even when the laptop is idle and no applications are open in windows, only E cores need to be used. But in my case, P cores are being used even in idle condition resulting in more battery usage and less battery life.
what should i do to rectify this situation?

1. What is the brand and model of your laptop?
2. What is the BIOS version installed?
3. What is the operating system installed as well as the version and build?
4. Were the E-Cores working properly before? If so, when did the issue start?
5. Have you performed any hardware or software changes recently?

1. My laptop is Acer Aspire 7 A715-51G
2. My laptop's bios version is 1.08 which is the latest for this model provided by acer's website.
3. I have windows 11 home 22H2 version. OS build - 22621.1992
4. I didn't noticed the performance of e cores before I just randomly spotted the usage when I was checking my cpu temperature and battery health.
5. I did a clean windows 11 install 2 or 3 months back because the previous version of my windows was giving me errors on some applications.

Thanks for your response. I have checked further and I can confirm that this behavior with the E- cores and P-core is normal and expected as the "Technical Product Specification" mentions.
