I have a Dell Precision 3480 with an i5-1340P processors. I have 2x16GB in the machine at present and I found 2x32GB, 2x48GB and 2x64GB are now available.
The ARK page says this CPU chokes above 2x48GB so does that mean the CPU is gimmicked to not support 2x64GB or even 2x128GB?
I know JEDEC supports 2x64GB and 2x128GB but 2x128GB is not on the market yet. 2x64GB is expensive but not out of reach.

The maximum RAM supported by the Dell Precision 3480 is 64GB according to the Precision 3480 Technical Guidebook. This information appears in Table 5 - Memory specifications - on pages 13 and 14 of this PDF that can be downloaded from here ,

Larger capacity RAM has come to market since this machine's manual was written,. Back the 2x32GB was the same for DDR4 and DDR5 but DDR5 has much larger capacity design.

Increased maximum RAM capacity was made available through BIOS updates in some instances. So updating to the latest BIOS and associated drivers would be recommended in any case. BIOS release notes, if available, may detail any changes to maximum RAM capacity. If there is nothing to indicate any change to the 64GB limit you could ask Dell Technical Support what the maximum RAM capacity of the Precision 3480/i5-1340P combination is with the latest BIOS applied.

Unfortunately laptop vendors do not provide any documentation with UEFI updates. I discovered Intel Memory Encryption when a UEFI update made that available suggesting the UEFI update was needed to get that feature working. Some security features are appreciated.
2x64GB is a tad expensive but with 128GB memory my machine would have good workstation capability using some demanding tools. I use Visual Studio, Blender and many other tools.

The JEDEC standard allows for 2x64GB and even 2x128GB as the standard extends max memory way out there
My i5-1340P supports DDR4 or DDR5 and my machine uses DDR5 so the SO-DIMM should support > 2x32GB such as 2x48GB and 2x64GB which is the largest available since I tried to get answers
