Hello Christine1,
JFFulcrum's answer is correct.
The Intel® Core™ i7-4790K Processor belongs to the Devil's Canyon CPU platform released in 2014 as a refresh for the Haswell platform. The Intel® Core™ i5-4670K Processor is part of the first Haswell processors released in 2013.
Your motherboard is based on the Intel® Z87 Chipset family which was developed for Haswell processors in 2013 as well. The motherboard may support your Intel® Core™ i7-4790K Processor but that depends on the manufacturer. Most of the motherboard manufacturers enabled support for Devil's Canyon processors via BIOS update, eventually by updating the BIOS of your board you can get it to work.
If the BIOS update doesn't help you need to talk to your motherboard manufacturer to confirm if it will support the Intel® Core™ i7-4790K Processor.
