Hi - I have a new system build that appears to be unstable even under default bios settings and was hoping to get some guidance.
System Specs:
- Processor: i7-14700k
- MB: Gigabyte z790 Aorus Elite X Wifi 7 (F5 bios)
- Memory: DDR5 32 GB (2x16) (Note: I've tried two different different sets of RAM from the QVL list - both Corsair Vengance, one 6400 cl36 and one 6200 cl36
- GPU: GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Gaming OC 12GB
- SSD: Samsung 990 Pro drive
- Cooler: Lian Li GA II lcd 360
- PS: Seasonic Focus v3 850, atx3/pcie5
Symptoms w/ Default settings:
- 6400 Memory, XMP Disabled: Posts and boots normally, passes OCCT, CPU-Z and 3DMARK benchmarks and stress-tests. Games run normally. XTU benchmark fails/program closes.
- 6400 Memory, XMP Enabled: Won't post / boot.
- 6200 Memory, XMP Disabled: Boots/Posts Normally. Fails OCCT w/ CPU Core Hardware Error. Fails XTU stress test. Occasional bluescreens when doing basic tasks.
- 6200 Memory, XMP Enabled: Boots/Posts Normally. Fails OCCT w/ CPU Core Hardware Error. Fails XTU stress test. Frequent bluescreens.
I tried adjusting various memory settings like disabling high bandwidth and low latency, turning of auto-boost, etc. And it always behaved the same.
After reading this intel post I tried setting my LLC to low instead of auto and all the above problems disappear. So my question is, are these symptoms and need to up the LLC indicative of a bad CPU or bad motherboard?
Or is it an issue with compatibility of the 'default' bios config where perfdrive is set to Optimization?
If this is 'normal' to have to tweak voltage settings to get stability, I'm wondering if its better to adjust the LLC or to slowly adjust the "Dynamic Vcore(DVID)" to get to acceptable stability.
Thanks!

@Mike_IntelThank you for the prior reply and the follow-up. I was able to use the guidance linked as a baseline and then tweaked slightly from there to balance performance/temp/etc. Everything seems to be stable now.
Thanks for your help.
