i7-14700k vCore after microcode update

If this has been answered somewhere before please let me know as I haven't been able to find it.

I have a i7-14700k with a GIGABYTE Z790 AORUS Elite X WIFI7 board. When we first built the system it was difficult to get a stable boot with any kind of memory overclock/xmp enabled.

We always had it running in Gigabyte Perfdrive "Optimized" mode. The bios vCore setting was defaulted at 1.2v -- and would hover around 1.2 - 1.26 at idle and dip into the 1.0n - 1.1n under stress/stability testing. With a minor tweak - setting LLC to low and putting some limits on PL1/PL2 we were able to get it stable with the xmp profile enabled.

In hindsight I think the initial stability issue was from the voltage dropping too low under heavy load and LLC helped control the dip.

Even though I don't think we had the voltage spike/degradation issue we decided to apply the final microcode/bios update to prevent any long term damage.

With the new microcode/bios it seems like the idle and load voltages are consistently higher. Idle around 1.3 and peaking up to 1.38 - 1.44 under load. Even if I switch the bios mode from intel settings back to 'optimized' they are a little better but still seem to default to higher than before the update.

Anyone else experience this?  Is this normal? Is it expected behavior with the new microcode?

Does anyone have an easy way to undervolt it without having to customize all the voltage settings?

Thanks!
