i7 q720 processor running chief architect

hi guys,

i have just bought a new laptop running an i7 q720 processor. i installed chief architect on it thinking about the wonderful experience i would enjoy with this new machine (my old desktop pc is an athlon 64 x2)...much to my utter dissappointment i have been badly let down. the 4 year old athlon leaves this new i7 chip way behind!. the i7 is running at barely half the speed and i cant for the life of me understand why.does anyone have any ideas for me. i notice that when displaying in 3d using chief the cpu resources are only about 13% used. how can this be?
