So, during not requiring activities I have no worries at all, it doesn't go hot. However while playing the CPU always goes up to 90-100°C which makes me feel concerned about my laptop's safety. It never goes higher than 100°C though and there have never been any trouble caused by overheating (at least none visible and obvious). Then I turned off Turbo Boost and the laptop stopped going higher than 75-6°C.
The shop's technician says it is totally fine for this CPU to heat up to 100°C but I need to get reassured or warned about it from another competent person. I know there's a difference between old CPUs and new generations which include thermal tolerance but I still have doubts about how safe it is. So, my questions are:
1) Is it okay for i9-13900HX to operate on 90-100°C while gaming, is it expected?
2) If yes, does running on 90-100°C while gaming decrease potential life expectancy of the CPU compared to the 75°C without Turbo Boost?
3) What is the reason the CPU never goes higher than 100°C? Is it the system balancing between not exceeding some thermal thresholds and performance?
Thank you for your time and attention.

Hi DeeNo,
Thank you for posting in the communities!
1. To answer your question, it is totally okay for the CPU to reach these degrees due to the needed power from the processor to operate the game.
2. If a CPU is continuously kept above 80°C (176°F) for long periods of time, its longevity may be impacted. CPUs do, however, have built-in safeguards against harm.
3. The reason why CPU's don't go beyond 100°C is due to what we call PROCHOT, stands for "Processor Hot", which is the signal that is activated with the CPU when it reaches approximately 100°C - 105°C depending on the model. This signal is what initiates thermal throttling so the CPU can slow down and increase the speed to recover from overheating.
Let me know if you have other more concerns.
