Hello toryappa,
It seems that the issue you're experiencing occurred after using the MEUpdateTool. This tool is designed to update the Intel Management Engine (ME) firmware on ASUS motherboards. Given that your system functions normally after resetting the CMOS battery and manually selecting the boot drive in the BIOS, the problem might be related to the ME firmware update.
Here are some steps you can take to address this issue:
- Consider re-flashing the ME firmware using a different version or tool, ensuring compatibility with your motherboard and processor.
- After resetting the CMOS, double-check that all BIOS settings are correctly configured, especially those related to the boot order and ME firmware.
- Ensure your BIOS is updated to the latest version, as this might resolve compatibility issues with the ME firmware.
- Since the issue persists after using the MEUpdateTool, it would be beneficial to reach out to ASUS support for further assistance. They may have additional insights or solutions specific to your motherboard model.
Additionally, I wanted share this information on about the guide for MEupdate tool: https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1047868/

Hello toryappa,
You can still reach out to Asus for technical support even if your motherboard is out of warranty. For issues related to the MEUpdate tool, such as deleting and reinstalling it, it's advisable to contact Asus directly. They have the expertise to assist you with these technicalities.
Regarding the options you mentioned, waiting for a new MEUpdate tool release might not be ideal since there's no set timeline for its availability. Therefore, contacting Asus for further assistance would be the best course of action.
