Hi,

Im new here and pretty low tech so please go easy on me

i want to upgrade my current cpu, a celeron E1500 (I believe its a dual core running @ 2.2Mhz)

i wish to upgrade without having to upgrade my motherboard also. Its an N826N (D*ll) socket 775, Intel G33 Express, memory is 4 - 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.

Im told the board can support the core 2 duo cpu, but whats best possible cpu i can run on this board? Ive recently got into pro tools and i need something which will cut the mustard, which unfortunately the celeron doesnt.

i there anything else i should consider before going ahead?

any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

You need to contact the motherboard manufacturer so they can provide you a list of fully supported processors for that particular motherboard.

As soon as you have the list of supported processor models for your laptop, you can check this link:

http://ark.intel.com/ http://ark.intel.com/

To find the best processor for your needs.

Thanks Adolfo, the motherboard manufacturer is Dell.

While they offer info on upgrading drives and memory, i cant find anything on cpu's...i dont think they encourage it!!Below are the motherboard properties, can i tell which intel cpus are compatible from this? Thanks

Since Intel only manufacture Intel motherboards, we are not familiar with DELL* motherboards, so we cannot tell Intel processors will work on third party motherboards.

Only the motherboard manufacturer, in this case DELL*, is the one that can tell you which processors will work on their motherboards.
