Development kit SRAM x16

I'm trying to use the development board's IDT71V416 SRAM in a x16 configuration instead of the x32 configuration that Altera includes in component builder.

I've seen a bunch of posts about it here and there seems to be a lot of people having trouble with it, but I haven't found any posts with good explanations of how to get it working. If anyone has made this work, please post how you did it.

I'm guessing one problem for some people is aligning the address correctly. With a x16 device, you want the FPGA's A1 going to A0 on the RAM chip, but it's wired up to A2. In SOPC builder, under board settings, you have to connect A[1] of your component to A0 on the SRAM chip.

When I try to download my code in the IDE I get a verify error. It works fine when I use the x32 SRAM component.

I tried the comonent at www.fpga.nl & I tried making my own in component editor.

Thanks,

Chris
