Latest TCP/IP Stack Available

So according to This Link , starting in Quartus 21.1 (Pro) / 21.3 (Standard) - "The NicheStack TCP/IP stack software and driver package are discontinued".

I went around looking for information on what this new stack will be and when it will be released.

This Link the "answer" is an unhelpful link to an article that simply states that NicheStack will no longer be supported. No mention of what the new stack will be or how to get it or when it will be available.

This Link has a similarly unhelpful response from an Intel employee. They just give another link to a page stating that the NicheStack will no longer supported, but no mention of any details regarding the new stack.

So my question is the same as the other links referred to above.

  1. Has the new TCP/IP stack been created / released?
  2. What is the name of the new TCP/IP stack?
  3. Where can this new TCP/IP stack be downloaded?
  4. If no new TCP/IP stack has been released, what does Intel advise us to use as our stack for new projects?

Hi Neil

Sorry for the barrier of bad news.

The support for TCP/IP stack is not available anymore for NIOSII.

This is because there was a security vulnerability that was in the old TCP/IP stack by Niche and there was a decision made to no longer support the TCP/IP stack for NIOSII moving forward.

The support for TCP/IP will be only for NIOSV onwards.

There are 2 option moving forward.

  1. Start using NIOSV in your design with the latest supported TCP/IP Stack.
  2. Download an old version of Quartus and use the old TCP/IP Stack with known issue.
