NIOS II DE1 tutorial problem: PLL vs ALTPLL

I've run into a snag with the SOPC tutorial for the DE1. I had no errors when the SOPC was built. Now when I Make the software using the NIOS II, I got the error:

#error You do not seem to have a PLL peripheral in your SOPC Builder system, please check that you have properly constructed your hardware before compiling this program.

This is generated in the "system_validation.h" header and it would appear that it is looking for the avalon_pll. However, when I ran the wizard for the SOPC, I got instead the altpll and this seems to be the problem. I remember getting some road block or error when I tried to create the none-ALT version but I don't remember what is was.

I'm using the 10.1 version of Quartus, running the tutorial created for 9.1. The lab file is DE1_sopc_builder_hw_lab91.

Any suggestions?
