Quartus 2 running under Linux is available for subcription users.
But why is there no Webedition for Linux ? And ... does anybody know if a subcription version of Quartus 2 & Nios 2 for Linux does work if a floating net server for existing Windows License is available ? We have a couple of Q2 & Nios2 Windows Full Lizense as floating net and think about using some of the Debian Linux computers as quartus & nios fitter for final compilation of a project that runs serveral hours on a 3.8GHz pc. any experience or recomendations ? thanks in advance. --- Quote Start --- But why is there no Webedition for Linux ?[/b] --- Quote End --- The Linux version uses MainWin for Win32 API compatibility (somewhat comparable to winelib), and (AFAIK) Altera has to pay royalties for using MainWin per installed copy. So it cannot give away a Linux version for free. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div> --- Quote Start --- if a subcription version of Quartus 2 & Nios 2 for Linux does work if a floating net server for existing Windows License is available ?[/b] --- Quote End --- You could try if it accepts the license. But I think you need additional licenses. Not sure if you can download all binaries from here, maybe worth a try: https://www.altera.com/support/software/dow...quartus_sub.jsp (https://www.altera.com/support/software/download/altera_design/quartus_sub/dnl-quartus_sub.jsp) <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div> --- Quote Start --- think about using some of the Debian Linux computers[/b] --- Quote End --- Don't take for granted that Quartus would run on Debian. I think at least MainWin depends on some shared libs in versions that come only with Red Hat Enterprise Linux. But it might work in a chroot with the proper libraries taken from such supported distribution (or a clone, Scientific Linux etc.) Regards, Kolja
