Using NIOS to control the PCI-Compiler

I'm using Altera's PCI-compiler on a CycloneIII. I would like to configure the PCI-compiler from the NIOS to act as a PCI master. All the configuration needs to come from the NIOS as the FPGA is not connected to a host PC.

Can anyone point me to a SOPC reference design showing how the NIOS should be connected to the PCI-compiler?

Also, can anyone provide me with sample NIOS code demonstrating how to actually initiate the PCI data transfers?

Thanks in advance.
