System: Win2000, quartus5.1, nios5.1, Linux dist. 1.4, Cyclone Dev. Kit

I got the following message whilst uploading kernel (thru USB-blaster):

"------------------------------------------------

Microtronix Linux Extensions

Version 1.4, Built June 20, 2005

------------------------------------------------

(note: only Altera-provided flash components will

work, since install.ptf was not found. This will

probably be fine for you.)

The flash programmer has been updated. Please see the

documentation for instructions on how to update your command line.

The flash programmer has been updated. Please see the

documentation for instructions on how to update your command line.

usage: nios2-flash-programmer [-h/--help] [-c/--cable <cable name>]

[-d/--device <device index>] [-i/--instance <instance>]

[-s/--sidp <address>] [-I/--id <id>] [-t/--timestamp <timestamp>]

-b/--base <address> [-e/--epcs]

<action> [-g/--go]

....

The flash programmer supports all CFI flashes which use the AMD programming

algorithm (CFI algorithm 2) or the Intel algorithm (1 or 3)."

Any one knows how to fix it?

Regards,

Hey

Search the forum! http://forum.niosforum.com/work2/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif There is a lot of help on this matter... http://forum.niosforum.com/work2/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif

But in short in 5.1 you can&#39;t use the flash programmer in the IDE. You have to program with the programmer in the shell.

Thank you for your response.

The error message suggested that we need to modify the program script, because the programmer has been updated with nios2 5.1.

However, I do NOT know what options (address, etc) I should provide to the programmer tool. Usually this is done by the Microtronix plugin upload script. Unfortunely that script does not show the given command on the console.

For the time being I switch back to quartus5.0 and nios 5.0 and everything works as described in the User Guide.
