Hi all,
So I have an Aspire XC-885
8th gen core i3 8100
I’m looking to upgrade the cpu on this. As I’m wanting to do more editing and uploads to YouTube, but as I’m starting out, can’t justify splashing out on a dedicated system quite yet.
With research I’m finding, it seems I have an LGA 1151 type mother board, but the hiccup I’m finding is whether the i5 or i7 will or will not work, as I’m coming against conflicting information.
So please find other pictures attached (hopefully) and any solid advice/solutions to my i5/7 issue would be fab.
Side note: assuming the results can be achieved, I’m assuming I’d need a cpu cooling fan from the appropriate model of cpu? Or are they pretty generic-ish?
Thank you all

You will need to contact acer and ask them what processors are compatible with their bios.
Then, you can select from those.

Hi AlHill thank you for the response.
I have tried checking acer but they won’t seem to let me contact them unless I phone, but feel with this issue I’d rather it writen down, and I can use pictures to help to
Just wondered if you knew of top of your head a rough email contact for them please?
Thank you
Steven
