Oh thanks. Very useful. Hoping the one I picked doesn't have Windows 8 installed.
Now I have to find which ones are DDR3 1600 compatible (RAM in link) then narrow it.
If there's a better motherboard that's different, I'd like to know.
I don't aim for a reinstallation, just a swap.

If the motherboard supports the ram, and the motherboard bios supports those processors, you should have no trouble selecting a processor.
And, you may want to sort by "power" if heat is a concern.
And, make sure the bios meets the minimum level. You may want to update the bios with the old processor first.

Does that have Windows 8 installed? I hope not because it might get in the way of my migration.

Ah wait, nvm I forgot that this one doesn't have a OEM OS.
Would a fan work if I already have an existing fan on the case? Or should I get a heatsink?

Hi bhl88,
The board manufacturer determines if the system requires a dedicated heatsink and fan for the processor. The board requires additionally, holes on the board to attach the heatsink and fan.

It will take time. Shipping takes until August.
A 35 W should work in a constrained space.

Raju, again I warn you. You can only use a processor if it is supported by the BIOS. So, your list is worthless without this knowledge.
