I recently upgraded my BX2 Board to a Core 2 Extreme Q6800 2.93 GHz processor. (I know that this is old technology, but I use a lot of old software that will not run on newer computers [processors and chip sets] and operating systems.) Before I changed processors I upgraded the BIOS to
BX97520J.86A.2838.2008.0903.1859, 9/3/2008. This appears to be the most recent BIOS available for this board, etc. I ran the Intel Processor Diagnostics Tool and everything checked out okay. However, a few days ago I had a system crash and received an error message from Microsoft that I was not running the correct BIOS for my CPU -- that the BIOS was too old for the CPU.tre Therefore I am asking if this is the BIOS I should be using, or if I should be using another BIOS.
Thanks.

Hello Lendall, thanks for sharing the information with us. I would like to inform you that there are not BIOS updates for processor. Only motherboards require the installation of other BIOS versions.
Could you please reinstall the latest BIOS version using the new processor?
Would you please provide me the exact error you are getting from Microsoft?
