My friend gave me a core 2 duo E8400 processor, but it does not have a fan/heatsink.

What is the Intel part number of the fan/heatsink for this processor?

I have a heatsink from Intel, part number E97375-001, that I used in another Intel processor that I had.

Can I use it on the core 2 duo E8400? Or is E8400 going to be overheated?

Yes, that would work. The part number E97375-001 works for LGA775 processors.
