Q9550 E0 stepping CPU, ASUS P5Q MB. Virtualization enabled in BIOS. Windows 7 Pro 64bit.
Microsoft's Hardware Assisted Virtualization Tool reports hardware doesn't support HAV. Any ideas if this is a problem with a defective CPU, a BIOS problem, a driver problem, or something else? Any suggestions for resolving the problem?

Maybe it is asking you for the VT-D that it is only supported on the Q chipset's and you have a P45.

According to Wickipedia's List of Intel Chipsets (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_chipsets), the P45 chipset is listed as supporting VT-d with BIOS support required. However, I have not been able to confirm that with any official Intel documentation yet. So far, what I have been able to find would indicate that the P45 does not support VT-d. Do you have any links to Intel documents that would confirm the P45 does not support VT-d under any conditions?
