Intel 14700k Temps

Hi

RTX 5090

Intel 14700k

Motherboard ROG STRIX Z790 H

Water Cooler EKWB AIO Nucleos Cr360 Lux D Rgb

Ram Corsair Dominator Titanium RGB DDR5 32GB 7200 MHz CL34 Intel XMP

My Processor is very unstable in gaming, normal temperature on cpu package is 86/90°C but it keeps scaling and peaking to 96/98°C.

My cpu Fans are going crazy and do a lot of noise due to temperatures, this is not normal, always had intel cpu and they run quite fine.

Should i run for a rma or theres a solution for it?

Hi GGWP,

Seeing temperature spikes are not necessarily a cause for concern.

When the system is idle, the temperature of the processor is not as high as when the system is running a workload. Having temperature spikes, or having high or maximum temperatures while running a workload—such as games—isn't necessarily cause for concern. Intel processors constantly monitor their temperature and can rapidly adjust their frequency and power consumption to prevent overheating and damage.

However, if you're noticing excessive noise, it may be worthwhile to inspect other components to ensure that all parts are functioning correctly.

  • When did the issue occur?
  • Have you checked if the CPU cooler is properly mounted and making good contact with the CPU?
  • When was the last time you cleaned your cooling system and ensured there is no dust buildup?
  • When was the last time you applied or replaced the thermal paste on your CPU?
  • How is the airflow in your computer case? Are there enough intake and exhaust fans?
  • Is your case positioned in a way that allows for optimal airflow?
  • Have you overclocked the processor? Please note that if the system was overclocked, including voltage/frequency beyond the processor supported specifications, your processor voids warranty.
  • What software are you using to monitor CPU temperatures?
  • Have you checked for any background processes that might be causing additional CPU load?
  • Do you notice the temperature spikes with specific games or applications, or is it consistent across all?
  • Have you tried lowering the graphics settings to see if it affects CPU temperature?
  • Have you updated your BIOS/UEFI recently? Sometimes updates can improve thermal management.

Once I have this information, I can begin investigating the issue. In the meantime, I've attached some helpful articles that may assist you.I hope they prove useful, and I look forward to your response.
