Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU) - Automatically load profile on startup

Hi all,

I want to use the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility to undervolt my mobile processor (i7-6600U) since (as with virtually all mobile systems) there are no settings in BIOS that would allow to do this. At the same time undervolting would be especially useful on mobile systems as it extends battery life and takes load off the often undersized cooling system.

I was able to undervolt my CPU temporarily by adjusting settings in XTU but now I want these settings to be automatically loaded whenever I start my system. Is there a possibility to do this?

I found the function called "App-Profile Pairing" but this does only allows to set specific profiles for specific applications while I want to have one profile that is always loaded regardless of the application I use.

I really hope this can be done, since it would open up a wide range of new applications for XTU. In contrast to using it as a mere overclocking tool it could be used to optimize system efficiency thereby reducing power consumption, reducing fan noise and maybe even increasing performance passively by avoiding thermal throttling due to TDP limits.

Best Regards,

Eduard

OK, never mind, seems this is actually the default behavior.

If you choose to "Apply" values, those values are automatically loaded upon the next startup. Make sure however that you system did not crash before since this will reset all changes!

Also note that it is not necessary to actually start the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility front-end. XTU installs the so-called "XtuService.exe" which always runs in background and sets values on-the-fly.
