Hello!
I have a laptop with i5 12600H processor, when i looked up at BIOS, there's an option to turn on Intel Trusted Execution Technology. should i enable it or just leave it disabled? (I'm just a normal user and not in any business). I also saw the description if it's enabled it would need a full restart, what does ot mean?

Thanks.

Hello RichardP,

I'm following up on the investigation that I have conducted. I'd like to give you the information that Intel® TXT is primarily beneficial for environments where security is a high priority, such as business or enterprise settings. As a normal user, you might not need this level of security unless you have specific concerns about protecting sensitive data.

About the performance impact, enabling this feature generally does not cause a noticeable performance loss for everyday tasks. However, there might be a slight overhead in scenarios where the security features are actively engaged.

While this feature enhances security, it is not a comprehensive solution for all types of malware and ransomware. It is still recommended that you use other security measure like antivirus software and regular backups for comprehensive protection.

To know more, you may check out the overview here: https://www.intel.in/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/technology-briefs/trusted-execution-technology-overview.pdf

Should you have other questions or concerns, please let me know.

Hi RichardP,

Thank you for posting on Intel Community Forum.

Intel Trusted Execution Technology (TXT) is a security feature designed to protect systems from certain software attacks and safeguard the confidentiality of data. If your system contains valuable data, files, or information, it is advisable to enable this security feature. However, as you mentioned that you are a regular user and not operating within a business context, the decision to enable or disable this feature ultimately rests with you.

Thanks for the answer.
Is there any downside by enabling this feature? like performance loss?
And also if it enabled will my laptop safe from malware attacks and ransomware encryption?

Thanks.

Hello
Thanks for the answer.
I think i don't need to enable Intel TXT feature.
I found on internet that some users get boot loop when this feature is enabled, I'm curious if this feature enabled, it will prevent me from booting to windows or the worst case is I won't be able to enter bios. As CPU can also bricked motherboard (According to YouTube videos).

Thanks, Your information is really helped me out!

Hello RichardP,

Thank you for patiently waiting on our response.

Based on our investigation, Intel® Trusted Execution Technology (Intel® TXT) is a security feature designed to enhance the protection of your system against certain types of software-based attacks. Here are some points to consider when deciding whether to enable it:

1. Purpose:

Intel® TXT is primarily beneficial for environments where security is a high priority, such as business or enterprise settings. As a normal user, you might not need this level of security unless you have specific concerns about protecting sensitive data.

2. Performance Impact:

Enabling Intel® TXT generally does not cause a noticeable performance loss for everyday tasks. However, there might be a slight overhead in scenarios where the security features are actively engaged.

3. Protection Scope:

While Intel® TXT enhances security, it is not a comprehensive solution for all types of malwares and ransomware. It helps protect against specific attacks, but you should still use other security measures like antivirus software and regular backups for comprehensive protection.
