Intel i9 13900K (?) - 30% of my games crash to desktop after lunch.

Hello everyone.

Not so long ago I've decided to refresh my PC. I've bought new CPU, motherboard, RAM, GPU and PSU. Everything worked perfectly fine. No issues at all until 28th of april when I've updated MB BIOS and Intel ME firmware. After that the crashing began. To check the scale of the problem, I've installed games I've played in the past few years. It turned out 9 out of  30 titles were crashing (~30%). The crashing is 100% consistant. Every single time in the exact same moment. It's 1/0 situation. Either game works flawlessly or it crash moments after lunching. Only Horizon Zero Dawn is reporting error in Windows Event Viewer → exception 0xc0000005 in module USER32.dll.

Things I've already tried:

1. Multiple clean reinstalls of Win10/11
2. Installing latest driver from MB/GPU manufacturers
3. Using Windows provided drivers only (where applicable)
4. Using other M.2 slots on MB
5. Switching to another NVME drive
6. Stress tested CPU - no errors (Prime95)
7. Stress tested GPU - no errors (Furmark)
8. Tested RAM in Memtest86 and windows tool - no errors
9. CHKDSK /r /f - no bad sectors
10. Disabling any OC settings in MB BIOS
11. Clearing CMOS and loading Default Optimized Settings in BIOS
12. Disabling/Enabling Secure Boot
13. Uninstalling any preinstalled software after Win 10/11 clean installation
14. Disabling all possible overlays AMD/Steam/uplay/etc.
15. Disabling any feature in AMD Adrenalin software like anti-lag or Super Resolution
16. Underclocking the GPU
17. Switching to secondary GPU BIOS (XFX graphics card has 2)
18. Switching to older AMD Adrenalin drivers
19. Switching to my old NVIDIA graphics card

It didn't change or affect the crashing in any way.

Recently I've read about RX 7900 XTX power spikes and thought my PSU might be cutting off power from PCI-E connectors as a safety measure. So I've bought ridicusly overpowerd Corsair 1500W PSU along with new MSI motherboard. Crashing was absolutely not affected in any way. In conclusion, its not the SSD, not the GPU, not motherboard or PSU. I do not use any extension cards. There are literally only 2 components left: RAM and CPU. RAM is listed as 100% compatibile with motherboard and 13th gen Intel CPU and there are no signs of errors in tests and it was working perfectly fine at the begining. So, in my humble opinion, the only thing left is CPU but I have no idea what could I do to resolve the issue. I'm open to any suggestions.

Ok, sorry, I can't help myself: If you games are failing after 'lunch', don't feed them so much!    ;^)

I'll presume you meant 'launch'...

Ok, I agree that you seem to have isolated the problem to the CPU. Here's what you do next: After verifying that your warranty is still active (here: Determine if Your Product Is Still Under Warranty), you need to directly contact Intel Customer Support to initiate the RMA process (you cannot do this from the Community). You should start here: Contact Intel Support or use this page where you can directly look up local/country phone numbers: Intel Support Phone Directory.

It's true that you can use the online forms service or email to contact Intel, but I recommend calling them directly. The above links provides local or toll-free numbers for most countries and the folks behind these numbers support most local languages. You could also use the chat service (start here: Intel Customer Support Chat), but understand that this service is offered only in English and is subject to the normal (9:00-5:00 M-F) office hours in the Pacific (UTC-8) time zone.

Hope this helps,

...S

I am having the exact same problem %30 of the games are crashing at the launch with user32.dll error.  I tought it was related with my ram or windows or even games itself. But I did lots of and lots of controlled experiment and I didn't able to find any solution. If the game is crashing it keeps crashing on launch.

Did you able to find a solution.
