Dear Intel.....
With the demise of the Serial Number a few years ago there must be some space to embed a little more info in the CPU.
The one code that most people in the industry know and love is the S-Spec number which can be referenced using ark.intel.com and processorfinder.
A radical proposition, but how about including the S-Spec number so it can be read from a CPU register ?
It really would make life an awful ot easier in manufacturing where you're juggling different processors and different steppings, and it's a lot easer to x reference than x86 Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 6 for example.
