Hey there! So I have a Lenovo Legion 7 16IAX7 with BIOS version K1CN45WW.
This machine runs an i7-12800HX and was running perfectly until past July 30th.
Now the CPU temperature practically sticks to the thermal throttle temperature as soon as it heats up, even on idle, with only background apps running and task manager showing CPU usage values under 5%.
I have been thoroughly trying to fix this issue, seeing if there is update, reverting to old graphics drivers, reverting recent Windows Update with no success.
Package temperature is still sticking or staying too close to the Thermal Throttle configuration.
I have tried to undervolt it a bit on Intel XTU, lowered Turbo Boost Power Max and no success either.
One weird thing is that, with Intel's Driver and Support assistant scan, current CPU voltage is "1.8" which is shown nowhere in Intel XTU or HwINFO, CPU-Z or any other tool. Is that voltage reading to be believed?
I have reverted BIOS to default values to avoid any misconfigurations and the behavior is still the same.
You will see that it will thermal throttle at 85°C because that is the max temperature it is set to on Lenovo Legion Toolkit.

Hello AlejandroAguilar
Thank you for providing a concrete explanation of the issue that you are currently facing.
Please note that this is an OEM device, so you may have to contact Lenovo for further support. Your device manufacturer may have altered features, incorporated customizations, or made other changes to some components for better compatibility with your system.
Please answer the following questions:
- When did this issue start to occur?
- Have you observed if the system fans are running properly?
- Are there any obstructions to the airflow or dust buildup that might affect cooling efficiency?
- Have you checked if the heatsink is seated correctly?
Collecting this information will help us pinpoint the issue more effectively and provide a suitable solution.
We look forward to your response!
Best Regards,
Robbie R.
