Well first of all, it would be good to know what your goals are?  

There are many tutorials out there. Without the goals, it is difficult to guide you.

That is a very broad term. 

Do you mean program an FPGA? Or some other hardware? 

And what do you want to program it with? what function do you want the hardware to have?
