Thanks to this forum I've managed to figure out how to write Configuration and Nios II Software to the EPCS device on a DE2 board and have the FPGA successfully load and run it.
My problem is transferring this knowledge to our target Cyclone III board and its EPCS16 AS device. If I use the pof file generated by Quartus 9.0 to program the EPCS device via USB Blaster the configuration data is loaded onto the FPGA. This is confirmed by being able to download the code to the target via the Altera Monitor program and a JTAG UART. Using the sof2flash, elf2flash, nios2-elf-objcopy, and Convert Programming Files in Quartus method (http://www.altera.com/support/kdb/solutions/rd04112006_450.html?gsa_pos=1&wt.oss_r=1&wt.oss=convert%20programming%20files%20elf) to create a pof file doesn't work. Programming the EPCS16 doesn't yield any errors. But after power cycling the board I suspect the configuration doesn't load because if I try to download code via the Altera Monitor program I get an error saying the JTAG UART isn't there (sorry I'm away from the lab and I don't have the exact error message). The sof2flash, elf2flash, nios2-elf-objcopy are from the 9.1 Nios 2 EDS if that matters. Thank you, ThomasLink Copied
