Hi Stefano: 

 

That's a pretty old application note (2005) and quartus version (2.2). I'm not really familar with Altera's version. I wrote a CORDIC that's been used in several designs (including ASICs) if you are interested in purchasing a core let me know.. The CORDIC is very powerful. I've used them in Software Defined Radios, Control Systems, Video Processing, and many other signal processing applications.
