Cyclone-IV FPGA as level translator ?

Dear Sir,

I want to connect a flash(VIO=1.8V) to a Processor(VIO=3.3V) via cyclone -IV FPGA. Please find the attached connection diagram.

By connecting VCCIO of bank-x to 3.3V & VCCIO of bank-y to 1.8V power supply in FPGA, will i get voltage translator functionality ?

Please confirm.

Thanks & Regards,

Thulasi

This will work. However, you should be aware that there will be some considerable tpd from the input to output (check with timing analysis), i.e. it will be slower than a dedicated level shifter. But for slow buses this approach will work.

I agree with Thomas, It will work for moderately slow buses but unless you already have the FPGA in the system for other purposes, it's overkill for this functionality.
