How can I connect sensors with FPGA in the DE1 board?

I'm using the DE1 development and education board; I'm also a beginner in this field. I'm trying to get some biomedical signals, as I'm trying to find the way to connect sensors and ADCs with FPGA using VHDL codes or any other means.
