How to wire up serial flash for serial flash loader?

Hi,

I have been reading the documenation in AN 370, using the serial flash loader with the quartus ii software. There are some aspects of using the serial flash loader that are confusing, specifically, concerning the hooking up of the pins of the EPCS4 to the FPGA.

The EPCS4 documentation is clear in showing the "DATA" pin as an output while "ADSI", "nCS" and "DCLK" are inputs.

In AN 370, describing the SFL megafunction, the function shows "dclk_In" clearly as an input as is "ncoso_In", "adso_In", while "data0_out" is an output.

The above seems contradictory. If the megafunction has three inputs and one output while the EPCS4 has three inputs and one output then clearly there is something wrong in the interpretation.

Thank you for any advice.

Tom
